|  Dr. Michael Diaz is a board certified cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is a member of the The American Society of Plastic Surgeons. After completing his undergraduate studies, financed through the success of his own business, Dr. Michael Diaz was accepted into the competitive medical program at The Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. His fascination with the human form was soon evident in his studies of anatomy, where he was awarded the Golden Scalpel Award, an honor given to the medical student with the highest marks. He was further honored by being elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Diaz went on to his post-doctoral training in general surgery at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. After completing his general residency, he spent an additional fellowship year studying hand, upper extremity and microsurgical reconstructive surgery. Dr. Diaz was then accepted into the plastic surgery training program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. During his Chief Resident year, Dr. Diaz's gained experience alongside some of New York City's top plastic surgeons at Lennox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York.
After completing his plastic surgery fellowship, Dr. Diaz returned to his home town of Miami where he began his solo practice and resided with his wife. His practice quickly evolved largely to aesthetic procedures of the breast and body. His reputation and success allowed him to draw patients from all over the Unites States, the Caribbean, and South America. In spite of a very successful practice in South Florida, he and his wife decided to relocate to Melbourne, Florida in search of more a more peaceful and better quality of life experience.
Dr. Diaz has been afforded many opportunities to lecture on the subject of cosmetic and plastic surgery at local and regional meetings. He has also been invited to appear in the media. He was a guest speaker on CNN en Español's television program "Consulta Medica" where he was interviewed on the topic of cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Diaz strongly believes in being involved in the community and partnering with the local area hospitals for the purpose of educating the public. He has been an invited guest speaker at Women's Day Health events and a guest speaker on local community radio programs discussing breast and body cosmetic surgery procedures. In addition, he has presented lectures to physicians groups at the local community hospitals.
Dr. Diaz also believes in giving back to the community by volunteering his time, surgical expertise and medical supplies to the local community as well as abroad. As part of the National Youth Leadership Foundation, he mentored high school seniors interested in a career in medicine. He is associated with the University of Massachusetts's Memorial Hospital's C.H.A.N.G.E., a program that travels yearly to Ecuador to perform charitable surgeries for the underprivileged. He also led Project Peru, a plastic and reconstructive surgery team and support staff of 15 that performed charity surgery in Cusco, Peru. Dr. Diaz's team was the most ambitious in the amount of surgical cases performed in the clinic's history. In addition, he has volunteered his surgery services pro bono to Brevard Health Alliance in support of his new community home.
