Gore-Tex, Advanta and Alloderm are FDA-approved facial implants designed to restore fullness to deep facial lines, creases and folds. They can also be used to plump the lips and enhance lip lines. Fine lines, fine wrinkles and skin imperfections are not intended for treatment with implants and are better treated with another procedure such as portrait or laser skin resurfacing.
Gore-Tex, Advanta and Alloderm are ideal for treating nasolabial folds (the lines extending from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth), lines around the mouth, and furrows between the eyebrows. These implants are placed beneath the skin through small incisions during a simple, minimally-invasive procedure in the office setting. Local anesthesia is typically used. Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS often combines these implant procedures with other procedures such as the facelift and laser skin resurfacing.
