T o be certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery, the members have met all the following criteria:
- Graduation from an accredited U.S. medical School
- Five years of residency AND board certification in Head & Neck Surgery, focusing on Facial Plastic Surgery
- One year of Advanced Fellowship training in the specialty of Facial Plastic Surgery.
- Two years of private practice
- Pass comprehensive oral and written exams administered by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery.
And remember: Just because a surgeon says he or she is board-certified doesn't mean they're a specialist in facial plastic surgery certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
