The aging process is an inevitable one. With time the skin begins to lose its elasticity, and the effects of sun and wind exposure and simple gravity further aggravate the aging process.
The brow and forehead area is often the first area to show the visible signs of aging. Frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and heaviness and sagging along the eyebrows and upper eyelids may develop. For some, these can result in a tired, angry or sad expression that doesn’t reflect one’s inner feelings. Aging along the forehead can occur at early ages, even in individuals in their thirties.
Fortunately, the browlift can help. This procedure can improve the brow position, loose skin along the upper eyelids and between the brows, expression lines and wrinkles, and a tired, angry or sad appearance. The lower face and neck and the lower eyelids are not altered by the browlift. These may be better treated with a facelift and/or eyelid surgery which can be performed separately or in combination with the browlift.
The browlift, also known as a forehead lift, can be performed with a variety of methods. Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS often prefers the advanced endoscopic technique in which small fiberoptic telescopes are used. This method involves tiny incisions and results in a more rapid recovery with less bruising and discomfort.
Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS often performs the endoscopic browlift with a combination of local anesthesia and sedation, and surgical times average one to two hours. Work and other normal, non-strenuous activities can be resumed within five to ten days for most patients.
